How Life Centered Therapy Works

Life Centered Therapy helps you get unstuck for good.

The First Way:

Our problem lessens or goes away.

Life Centered Therapy has been used very successfully in the treatment of the following:

Physical: Chronic Pain, Asthma, Allergies, Respiratory Illnesses, Crohn’s Disease, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Idiopathic Diseases (those of unknown origin) and others

Emotional: Depression, Anxiety, Phobias, Addictions, Post Traumatic Stresses (PTSD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Sexual Dysfunction, and Major Mental Illnesses, Shame and Guilt

Mental: Paranoia, Obsessions, Limiting Mindsets and Beliefs about the Self and the World

Relationship: Releasing destructive interactions and reducing reactivity/getting your buttons pushed

Spiritual: Alienation, Despair, Inertia

The Second Way:

The anxiety about the problem lessens or goes away.

The anxiety we associate with the problem dissolves so while we still may have the pain, we will not be suffering. What does it mean to be in pain but not be suffering? We learn that what is important is not the hand we are dealt but how we play it; we learn how to play it with courage and grace, to have a sense of equanimity.

We Believe:

Suffering arises from one source: trauma. We define trauma as the result of something that subjectively cannot be handled and integrated (taken in stride or handled with grace). What we believe is that trauma is subjective and is defined by the person who is experiencing it. Anytime a person encounters something that they can’t handle or take in stride, they experience a trauma, whether the source of the trauma comes from something or someone else, or from within ourselves.

In order to be free of the suffering, we must re-member the trauma and take it in stride (get to a sense of peace about the experience). It does not matter whether the experience that can’t be handled is something terrible like a bomb explosion or something like a usually kind and responsive parent yelling at us or neglecting us. As soon as we encounter something we can’t handle, it will continue to rear its ugly head and cause suffering until we are able to integrate it or to take it in stride. Once there is something you can’t handle, without realizing it, you unconsciously create echoes of the original situation over and over again. Why do you do this? It is Life’s invitation to fully process the event so that it’s no longer an impediment to you—so that you can move forward without suffering about that experience anymore.

You really can leave your suffering behind and live free.
