Rafael De Souza
Master’s Level Intern from Cambridge College
Hi, I’m Rafael de Souza. I’m a passionate and dedicated mental health counselor in training, currently advancing my expertise with a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Cambridge College. With a solid foundation in psychology that stems from psychoanalytical studies, such as Freud and Lacan, and a B.A. in the field, my therapy approach is comprehensive and nuanced. I tend to blend various therapeutic modalities, including life-centered therapy, psychodynamics, somatic psychotherapy, the humanistic approach, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to tailor my interventions to the unique needs of each client. My experience as an Applied Behavior Analysis counselor at a special education school for students with severe disabilities has honed my ability to work with complex cases, demonstrating patience, dedication, and a profound understanding of developmental challenges. Prior to my career in psychology, I spent 18 years teaching English as a Second Language, a role that deepened my cultural sensitivity and communication skills. As a therapist in training, I have already made a meaningful impact by working with a diverse population, including children, adolescents, families, couples, and individuals, showcasing my versatility and commitment to fostering healing and growth across different stages of life. In addition, as a bilingual individual, I can assist you in English and Portuguese.
