James O’Brien

Master’s Level Intern

My therapeutic approach is compassionate, grounded, and collaborative. In addition to Life  Centered Therapy, I draw from existential psychology, mindfulness, and narrative therapy to help clients make sense of their experiences and reconnect with meaning. My goal is to create a space where clients feel both supported and challenged, fostering self-awareness and resilience as they work toward authentic and lasting growth. My experience includes providing counseling for adults and adolescents navigating anxiety, depression, grief, identity exploration, and life transitions. Before becoming a counselor, I was a high school English teacher and coach for more than 10 years. I also have experience working with adults and teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I welcome anyone seeking a deeper sense of clarity, connection, and healing. Outside of clinical work and studies, I enjoy running, tennis, meditation, and comedy.
